Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor - Early Pre-Production Phase, Main Character Exploration #2

In the early days of exploration for the game that would eventually morph into Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, a lot of brainstorming took place. During this early concept phase, many ideas were explored for the direction of the game, and who the main character might be.

This design exploration's purpose was to bring the visual elements closer back to the traditional clothing and designs seen in the LOTR films.

In order to try and come up with a new take on the familiar designs, the Grey Havens were selected as his homeland. This region choice gave some design room to explore the clothing design and color palettes. Since the Grey Haven Elves are close to the sea, black and blue was explored as the primary schemes.

The tunic designs were influenced from familiar clothing designs seen in the films, but given some shape differences to denote the Grey Haven cultural influence.
